Carmen Goes to Den Haag

9.09.2006

After the Peace Palace we went for a walk through Scheveningen, which led us to the beach.

A few of us took a walk up to the International Peace Palace today (which is only a short walk away). It is home to the International Courts where Charles Taylor is currently before the courts. We didn't go in because it seems we will get a chance with school to sit in on some of his (or maybe someone else's) court processes.
This structure was a gift from Carnegie.
Picture's really don't do it justice. Its beautiful and amazing. This place is the stepping stone into an age of global governance and international citizenship.

Here are 3 of my fellow Canadian students. Isbelle, from Quebec, is in my program. Hugo is also from Quebec and is in 'Rural Livelihoods and Global Change', and David is from Ottawa and in 'Economics of Development'.
